Prestige Tennis squads are all about helping our athletes progress their games to the next level. We have different squads available for all players based on their standard and overall goals. Prestige Squads focus on and feature the following:

  • Stroke biomechanics
  • Efficient footwork & movement skills
  • Tactical development & situational drilling for both singles and doubles
  • Physical and athletic development
  • Sports psychology
  • Data analysis and match charting
  • Match Practice
  • Tournament trips

Development squads are designed for beginner-level competition players who are currently playing WDTA D or C Grade (or equivalent) All players can apply for this squad and there is no mandatory private lesson criteria involved.

Intermediate squads are invitation only or players can apply to have an assessment to gauge their suitability for this squad. Prestige Tennis Academy’s intermediate squad is a niche squad and is the leading squad of its type in Melbourne. It is specifically targeted toward players between the age of 8-13yo with a UTR of between 2-5. To be eligible for this squad players must have a mandatory weekly private lesson as well as a tennis-specific physical movement session with a PTA coach.

The major goal of this squad is to prepare players to be fed into Tennis Australia’s national development squad program.

Advanced Squads are designed for players playing a high grade of local competition (WDTA A grade and equivalent or above) and also tournaments. This squad is again either an invitation or an application is required.

Elite Squads cater to the serious tennis player. This squad is by invitation only, on application, and a minimum UTR of 8 is required to be eligible.

The frequency of practicing tennis to see improvement depends on the individual’s skill level and goals. However, it is generally recommended to practice at least 2-3 times a week to see significant improvement.

To start playing tennis, you need a tennis racquet, tennis balls, and appropriate footwear for the tennis court. Optional equipment includes tennis attire, a tennis bag, and a grip enhancer.

It typically takes around 6-8 weeks to learn the basics of tennis, but it can vary depending on an individual’s skill level, frequency of practice, and level of commitment.

Private tennis lessons offer several benefits such as personalized attention, tailored coaching to an individual’s skill level and goals, greater opportunity for feedback, and a more focused and intense training. On the other hand, group coaching offers more affordable instruction, the opportunity to interact with other players and practice with a variety of opponents, and a more social and fun experience. It ultimately depends on an individual’s preferences and goals.
